A GLANCE Education is the basis on which we can build a society with a modern and secular outlook. Islam stresses the need for acquiring knowledge even from China. China at the advent of Islam was a remote and isolated land without any means of communication and transportation. The idea was for acquisition of knowledge.

The locality where the Islamiyah Matriculation Higher Secondary School now stands was backward both economically and educationally forty years back. There were no facilities for the children of the area to get proper education. To prevent this pathetic condition, it was thought that this area needs a proper educational institution to impart moral education to the children to shape them into fine human beings.

With a view to practice this idea, Islamic Educational Foundation was started in 1979 and in 1980, a 'madrasa' named 'Madeenathul uloom' was also started functioning.

The lukewarm response of the parents forced the members of the foundation to take a decision that, secular education based on the prevailing educational system is to be imparted to the children so that they could become useful members for the society and equip them well to compete in this tough world.

In June 1981 - 82, Islamic Nursery School was started with 72 children, two teachers and one ayamma. Later, in 1982, a van was purchased to bring the children from their homes. The man behind this venture was Late.Janaab.N.K.Muhammad sahib fondly called as 'Usthadh' by everyone. He was the driving force and the backbone of all the activities connected with the school.

The mission of the school is Education - Ethics - Excellence. Overall development of the children viz. physical, psychological, emotional, cognitive development are kept in mind while framing the curriculum.

Classes were conducted upto V standard. In 1983, Islamic Educational Foundation was dissolved and Islamic educational Trust was formed. Later, the trust unanimously decided to upgrade the school to X std. For this purpose, in 1986, 2 acres of land was purchased. By the grace of Almighty, it started the construction of the school in the same year. In June 1988, the ground floor was ready and by 1990-91, the first floor was constructed. In the same year, B block was constructed for the boys of the classes VI to X. In 1991-92, the school got recognition from the Government of Tamilnadu. For the first time, our school students wrote the board examination in March 1992.

In 1999, Islamiyah Matriculation School was upgraded to Islamiyah Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The Higher Secondary classes had been inaugurated by the then district collector Mr.K.Santhanam I.A.S.

Excellent results are produced every year. It is possible due to the combined and sincere efforts of the students, dedicated teachers and encouraging management and above all, the grace and blessings of Almighty.

All efforts are being made to build the character of the students on proper moral grounds in the light of divine instructions of Qur'an. It is the spiritual side of a man, which grows well by following the instructions and guidelines laid down by the Holy Qur'an makes a man complete and worthy. To fulfill this aim, a separate department of Arabic and Moral Science is functioning here. Though Arabic and moral science were started from the beginning of the school, the department was inaugurated in 1997. 62 teachers, who are well versed in Qur'anic studies, are attending the students from 8.30 am to 9.30 am. Recitation of Qur'aan, understanding Islamic beliefs, memorizing the Qur'anic verses and hadees, knowing History of Prophets and Companions, laws of Islam, etc are taught during this period. There are separate prayer halls for boys and girls. They are encouraged to perform their daily prayers. At the same time, it must be noted that non-muslim students are not compelled to follow this Islamic way of life.

By the grace of Almighty, because of the presence of school, a remote area has become a busy and a heart of Coimbatore city. Four new schools are functioning giving education to many other students. Our students have become doctors, engineers, lawyers, auditors, educationalists, soft skill trainers, IT professionals, businessmen, etc.

No student should drop out with the reason of poverty. It was the dream of our founder that all children should get basic education despite of the poverty. Hence, every year, around 20 lakh rupees is being spent as scholarship for the needy, orphans and poor students.

Now, our school 'Islamiyah Matriculation Higher Secondary School' stands proudly in the area of Karumbukkadai against all odds. The management, staff members, parents and many well wishers had made huge sacrifices to make this institution a grand success and the reward for such sacrifices and sincere work is with Almighty.

All these forty years, the school has travelled through all kinds of trials and tribulations, hurrahs and flops but proudly raises its head to receive the laurels and bouquets. May the Power, Wisdom and the Blessings of Almighty Allah lead us towards the goal, as He always protects from all obstacles. Aameen.
